FAQS

FAQs about EPCs for Commercial Properties

A Commercial Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rates a building’s energy efficiency from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). It’s required by law when renting or selling a business property.

All commercial property owners, including those with shops, offices, or small warehouses, need an EPC if renting or selling the property.

A Commercial EPC is valid for 10 years, making it a long-term asset for your property.

Properties with an F or G rating cannot legally be rented or sold without improvements. MEES standards require a minimum rating of E.

Typical improvements include better insulation, energy-efficient lighting, and upgrading heating systems. Your EPC report will offer tailored recommendations.

Failure to provide an EPC when required can result in fines of up to £5,000.
